PhD Scholarships Women


Each Scholarships Women fellowship amounts to € 19.800,00 per year; this amount includes national insurance contributions (INPS) that fellowship recipients are required to pay (8,91% for 2011).

The Scholarships Women fellowship doesn`t cover the annual entrance fee and doesn`t increase for research periods spent abroad.

The PhD Scholarships Women Programme lasts three years and may be extended to a fourth year (without grant), subject to approval by the School authorities. At the end of the first and second year of attendance, students have
to be evaluated as proficient according to the rules of the Schools.

PhD Scholarships Women in University Radboud

The PhD project involves writing a dissertation on the following topic: ‘Human Rights and Human Duties: Assessing the Obligations entailed in Human Rights’.

You have an MA in Philosophy and/ or Law with a clear interest in a philosophical and conceptual approach to legal questions. Furthermore you should have excellent analytical and writing skills in English and Dutch. You have teaching skills or are willing to obtain these skills.The initial contract will be for one and a half years, which then will be renewed if the progress made under this first contract is satisfactory. An employment of 0,8 FTE is negotiable. Commencement date: 1 July (at the latest).

The research aims at the following objectives:
1. Analysing the conceptual link between human rights and human duties.
2. Developing a normative theory of human duties.
3. Proposing practical guidelines for the assessment of the legal implications of human duties.

Alongside the PhD research, the candidate is required to make a small contribution to the teaching of the Philosophy of Law department in the Bachelor of Law programme of the Faculty of Law.

Scholarship Description: This scholarship is funded by an ARC Discovery Project grant and will provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis for a research project leading to a PhD. The objective of the research project is to investigate the biologic and geologic response of the Great Barrier Reef to sea level and climate changes over the last 30 ka by generating and linking new observational data with numerical modelling. Eligibility:

Scholarships women The Agris Mundus Masters course is a two-year training programme of 120 ECTS

The Agris Mundus Masters course is a two-year training programme of 120 ECTS (European Credits Transfer System) in agricutural development and management of natural resources.

The Agris Mundus Masters course objectives are to train students to cope with the current global/international concerns in agriculture and rural development. Graduates will be qualified to identify and critically analyse key factors shaping the development of crops, forests and animall production, the management of research and rural development projects and finally, the sustainable use of natural resources and the environment. They will be trained to formulate and provide effective and appropriate responses to complex agriculture and natural resources related issues.

As the result of the selection of the Agris Mundus Master course by the Erasmus Mundus programme, the European Commission provides a number of scholarships.

Host Institution(s):

Listed below are the members of the Consortium:

• Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR), the agricultural university in the Netherlands, with a strong experience in developing countries, specially in the domain of agricultural development

• University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Life Sciences, is one of the european leading university in the areas of food, health, plants, natural resources, environment with a recognised expertise in agricultural development in the third countries.

• University College of Cork (UCC), which hosts one of the well-known colleges in Ireland for agriculture and food industries

• Universita degli Studi di Catania, the university in Sicilia, Italy, with a high experience in mediterranean crops and animals

• Universidad Politecnica de Madrid the university in Spain which carries for years a deep involvement in the support to local development in Europe and the Americas.The UPM contribution to the Agris Mundus Master course is organized with the cooperation of Infodal Foundation

• Montpellier SupAgro, (Agropolis Montpellier) the specialised training institution in France for agricultural systems in the mediterranean, the tropics and the subtropics.

Number of Awards:

15-30 scholarships are usually offered each year to the Agris Mundus master course by the Erasmus Mundus Programme of the European Union.

Target group:

The Erasmus Mundus programme is open to:

1. the 27 Member States of the EU: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.

2. the countries of the European Economic Area / European Free Trade Association (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway)

3. the third countries (all the other countries of the world)

Scholarship value/inclusions:

Monthly allowance of Eur. 1,000 per month (for 12 months) plus travel expenses, contribution to installation and any other type of costs worth Eur. 4,000 per year.

Eligibility:

All the students, irrespective of their country of origin or of the training track they candidate to, are subjected to the same criteria.

• Bachelor of Sciences (180 ECTS) in a field related to agricultural development or a BA in the Social Sciences or equivalent

• Verified excellent quality of the institution where this first degree was obtained

• Excellent academic background with marks identifying the candidate among the 20% best students of his former studies (BSc or BA degree with honours 1st class or 2nd class minimum)

• Strongly convincing letter of motivation

• 2 letters of support from referees.

Only candidates who are able to show evidence of a very good level and well-constructed motivation have a chance to be admitted. Preference will be given to candidates with appropriate professional experience and strongly convincing recommendations by an academic or a professional body. Candidates who cannot show evidence of such criteria are invited to refrain from applying.

Additional eligibility criteria for the scholarships:

a) to be a citizen of a third-country : all countries other than the 27 States of the European Union and the associated states [Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway], Turkey, Switzerland, Albania, Bosnie-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Former Yugoslavia, Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia;

b) not residing in any UE Member State or participating country;

c) to have not carried out his/her main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months the last five years in any of the UE Member States or participating countries, at the date of the application.
